Russian air defenses have destroyed two missiles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kursk Region. This was reported by the governor of the region Alexei Smirnov on November 20.

"Two Ukrainian missiles were shot down in the afternoon by air defense forces in the Kursk region. I thank our defenders!" - wrote the head of the region in his Telegram-channel.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces shot down five Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk, Belgorod and Orel regions between 8:00 and 10:00 Moscow time.

On the same day, the ministry said that air defense forces destroyed 44 Ukrainian drones overnight over Russian regions. It was noted that 20 drones were shot down over the territory of the Novgorod region, five UAVs - in the sky over the Kursk region, four - over the Orel region. Three drones each were shot down over Belgorod, Tula and Tver regions and two were destroyed over the territories of Bryansk, Moscow and Smolensk regions.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
