The State Duma will discuss the issue of high teaching load in Russian schools

Chairman of the State Duma (GD) Vyacheslav Volodin during the plenary session on November 20 instructed the Committee on Education to organize a discussion of the high workload in Russian schools.
"A child should be taken care of and everything should be done to ensure that he or she is healthy, there was no excessive load, which is now ubiquitous in schools," he is quoted in a publication on the website of the State Duma.
It is noted that the load on high school students exceeds sanitary and epidemic norms by 30%. According to Volodin, this affects the condition of children and at the same time "nothing good."
He emphasized that this issue concerns not only high school students, but also the younger ones. Volodin also proposed to involve teachers, representatives of parental committees, experts and the specialized minister in the discussion.
In addition, the deputy said that it is necessary to organize a discussion on the expediency of the OGE in the ninth grade.
"Why pass the USE, if the child goes to enter college, technical school, college? Let's discuss all these issues," Volodin added.
Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya also noted the growth of morbidity among schoolchildren as a result of "such an active educational process". According to her, more than 50% of children acquire diseases of the eyes, musculoskeletal apparatus and GI tract during the period of education.
The day before, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that improving the quality of education in the country and reducing the burden on teachers remain among the main tasks. He also pointed to the readiness of a comprehensive action plan to improve the quality of education in exact sciences and science subjects in all schools in the country, as well as the level of teacher training and the elimination of staff shortages.
Prior to that, November 16, the Federal Service for Supervision of Education and Science reported that the USE may be transferred to a 100-point evaluation system, as well as use the results of the exam for selection to profile classes in the 10th year of education. Currently, the USE continues to use grades from "two" to "five". The timing of the transition to the new system has not yet been determined.
