A political scientist called the US the main gendarme of all Western states

The United States is the main gendarme of all Western states, political scientist and military analyst Vadym Mingalev has said. The expert emphasized that Europe, primarily the UK, would follow the instructions of the US side. He told Izvestia on November 20.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that, according to The Times, the administration of current US President Joe Biden allowed strikes by British long-range Storm Shadow missiles deep into Russian territory. At the same time, according to the publication, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's position on the use of such missiles has changed. Until this moment, in September, he ruled out such a decision. In August, The Times reported that the UK could not authorize Ukraine to strike Russian territory with these missiles because of the US ban.
"The main gendarme of all Western states is the United States of America. I emphasize, exactly a gendarme, not just an ally. There is no alliance here. <...> Great Britain is considered though not a vassal, but nevertheless it is, to put it mildly, an aide - a structure that is not the first but the second. It was after World War II that Britain became the second in the Western world," Mingalev explained.
According to the political scientist, any British prime minister depends precisely on the United States, on the decisions of the American side.
"Now the situation is such that European countries are between Scylla and Charybdis. On the one hand, [U.S. President-elect Donald] Trump, who in two months will already be a real U.S. president, and who, to put it mildly, dislikes Europe and always pressures [it] to pay much more for its so-called security. And on the other hand, it is also the Democratic Party, which is supported by certain financial structures," the expert said.
As a result, European countries are maneuvering between the outgoing White House administration and the future administration. At the same time, the U.S. continues to play the leading role in the hierarchy of the West.
In addition, Mingalev expressed the opinion that the British Prime Minister is much weaker than his predecessors. And also the political scientist emphasized that in Europe, primarily in the UK, will do what they say in the United States.
The day before, Bloomberg reported that President Biden's authorization for Kiev to strike deep into Russia with long-range missiles did not help to rally Ukraine's allies. According to the agency's material, NATO does not expect the decision of the White House head to affect the balance of power. In addition, the West realizes the weakness of the Ukrainian troops against the background of "strong pressure from numerous and better-equipped Russian troops", the author of the publication stressed.
On November 9, Colonel Douglas McGregor, a former advisor to the Pentagon chief, said that the Kiev regime would come to an end if the West stopped supplies.
The West has increased military and financial support for Kiev against the background of the Russian special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
