US assistance is needed to settle the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg on November 20.

"Obviously, we also need the support of the new US administration. This is the only way to achieve a sustainable, comprehensive and just peace," Schallenberg said during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga after bilateral talks in Vienna, broadcast on the Austrian Foreign Ministry's YouTube channel.

The Austrian foreign minister expressed the opinion that it was up to the Ukrainian people to decide how, where and when to start the negotiations. He added that support from Brazil, China, South Africa, India and other countries was needed to support this issue.

Earlier in the day, the British publication Daily Express reported that US President-elect Donald Trump may secretly put nuclear weapons at Ukraine's disposal. The deal between him and Kiev could be done very secretly, security and defense expert Nicholas Drummond told the tabloid. However, Mikhail Sheremet, a member of the State Duma's committee on security and countering corruption, said the reports were a provocation before he took office.

Prior to that, on Nov. 15, Trump pledged to "work very hard" to end the Ukraine conflict at the America First Policy Institute's Nov. 14 gala at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. It was his first public appearance since winning the election.

The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. The results were met with prolonged applause at the campaign headquarters of the president-elect. Speaking before supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
