- Times has learned of U.S. authorization for British Storm Shadow missiles to strike deep into Russian Federation

TheUSA has authorized Ukraine to use long-range Storm Shadow missiles for strikes deep inside Russia. This was reported by the British newspaper The Times, citing sources.
"According to Prime Minister [UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer], it is only a matter of time before British-made Storm Shadow missiles are used by [Ukrainian President, whose term expired on May 20] Zelensky against Russia," the publication reported.
According to the publication, the UK government will not make an official statement on the matter.
According to the newspaper, the prime minister's entourage said that Biden's authorization to use Storm Shadow missiles against Russia would not affect the course of the conflict.
In August this year, The Times reported that the UK could not authorize Ukraine to strike Russian territory with these missiles because of a de facto US ban. Washington's permission is required because the missiles use American technology. The country's authorities have been awaiting Washington's approval for months because of Biden's concerns about an escalation of the war in Ukraine.
The West has stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
