Head of Tatarstan visits FAW Toyota plant in China

Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the joint venture FAW Toyota Motor in the Chinese city of Chengdu as part of his working visit to China. This was reported by the press service of the head of the republic on November 20.

Minnikhanov familiarized himself with the production and range of the plant, where Toyota Avalon sedans, Prado J250 SUVs and Coaster buses are manufactured. He was also told about the peculiarities of technology and other topical issues, the press service reported. Minnikhanov met with Wang Xiaohui, secretary of the CPC committee of Sichuan province.

As Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine, noted in his Telegram channel, it cannot be claimed that the visit of the head of Tatarstan to Chengdu means plans for some kind of technological cooperation.

"But everyone is negotiating with everyone now, and the FAW concern has a certain interest in Russia. After a while, details may follow if the conversation was really businesslike," the auto expert explained.

The day before, FAW announced that the premiere of the updated Bestune B70 liftback in Russia will take place in December 2024. In the Russian market, the model will be available in three configurations and with two powertrains. In early November, it was reported that the Bestune T90 flagship crossover was certified in Russia.
