- Bloomberg pointed to the end of the era of Western supremacy in determining world politics

The West no longer determines world politics. Bloomberg wrote about it on November 20, summarizing the results of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.
"The West no longer rules the ball. <...> Fewer and fewer countries want to play by the old rules," the publication wrote, pointing out that each G-20 statement after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine was weaker than all the previous ones.
To top it all off, it notes that there have been persistent questions about what role the United States will continue to play in world affairs with the arrival of Republican Donald Trump in the White House. As one diplomat speaking to the agency noted, Trump despises much of what Europe stands for and that is unlikely to change, so countries on the continent simply need to find as many allies as possible to support collective action.
Earlier in the day, Reuters reported that European Union leaders remained unhappy with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's decision to end talks at the G20 summit early, thereby cutting short discussions on Ukraine. The agency noted that French leader Emmanuel Macron was unhappy with such a decision by Lula da Silva.
At the time, the FT also saw a decline in support for Kiev at the G20 amid calls for talks with Russia. According to the newspaper, some European delegations wanted to include a paragraph condemning Russia in the text, but refused to do so for fear of disrupting the adoption of the document. The journalists also pointed out that talks on Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East were postponed until the last days before the summit.
The G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro was held from November 18 to 19, Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. In the already adopted final declaration, the participants of the meeting welcomed all constructive initiatives to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
