Two children almost died on the ice of the bay in Birobidzhan

Police officers pulled two children out of thin ice on a bay in Birobidzhan. The boys, aged six and 12, were found standing in the middle of a snow-covered body of water. Their parents were not with them.

The boys got in time in the field of vision of specialists, the tragedy was avoided, writes IA EAOMedia with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region. After the brothers were on the shore, they had an explanatory conversation with them. The older child told the EMERCOM inspector that at school he had already been told about the danger of the first ice, but his interest in its strength was stronger.

According to Stanislav Khinkis, state inspector for small vessels of the patrol service group of the Center of GIMS GU MES for the region, recently cases of children going out on the ice occur every day. They are reported by passers-by, sometimes it is noticed by rescuers during preventive raids.

The Agency reminds that in spring in EAO registered a case of a child falling through the ice. He was walking on loose ice together with friends. Noticing the rescuer, the schoolchildren scattered, but one of them fell into the icy water. This happened about 20 meters from the shore. EMERCOM specialists were nearby and rescued the boy.

Earlier it was reported that the authorities of Birobidzhan decided to increase the number of rescue posts at the city's water bodies during the swimming season of 2025.
