Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with President of the Central African Republic (CAR) Faustin-Arkange Touadera. This was reported by the Kremlin press service on November 20.
The leaders discussed the development of relations between the countries in political, trade and economic, humanitarian and other areas.
"From the Russian side confirmed readiness to continue to assist the CAR in matters of strengthening the national economy, sovereignty and security of the country," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the Kremlin.
It is noted that Touadera expressed gratitude to Russia for the assistance provided in various directions. The parties agreed to continue to maintain contacts at various levels.
Before that, in April, Touadera pointed to the possibility of the appearance of a military base of the Russian Federation in the east of the country. The head of the republic said that the CAR had trained more than 10,000 young soldiers with the help of Russian instructors.
In June, Russian Ambassador to Bangui Alexander Bikantov said that negotiations on the establishment of a military base between the CAR and Russia were continuing. The diplomat specified that the negotiations are actively underway, but the dates of arrival and the size of the contingent have not yet been decided.
