Residents of a settlement near Veliky Novgorod were placed in a TAC after a nighttime UAV attack

The residents of the village of Kotovo in Novgorod Region who survived a massive overnight attack by Ukrainian drones have been temporarily evacuated to temporary accommodation centers (TACs) in the nearby town of Okulovka. As regional governor Andrei Nikitin said on November 20, this was done in order for the military to carry out security and demining activities in the area.

According to him, all services worked promptly, people were evacuated by buses. Some residents preferred to stay with friends, some were accommodated in the school, some arrived at the TAC.

"Residents of the settlement are placed in temporary stay points in Okulovka. They are provided with hot meals, everyone is provided with sleeping places. All structures worked clearly, coherently", - noted Nikitin in his Telegram-channel.

Now the threat of danger in the region has been lifted. There are demining teams of the Emergencies Ministry and Rosgvardia, which arrived from Veliky Novgorod. Nikitin noted that after inspection of the territory and exclusion of risk factors, residents will be able to return to their homes. This should happen in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense forces overnight destroyed 44 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions. It was noted that 20 drones were shot down over the territory of the Novgorod region, five UAVs - in the sky over the Kursk region, four - over the Orel region. Three drones each were shot down over the Belgorod, Tula and Tver regions and two were destroyed over the territories of the Bryansk, Moscow and Smolensk regions.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
