All necessary measures are being taken for the safety of the Crimean bridge and other Russian critical infrastructure facilities. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on November 20.

"Supreme Commanders-in-Chief have long been given instructions, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the security of all critical infrastructure facilities, including the [Crimean] bridge," he said.

This is how Peskov assessed the publication of Global Defense Corp, which claims that Kiev may choose the Crimean bridge as a target after possible US permission to use long-range ATACMS missiles to strike deep into Russian territory.

The previous day, the Russian military shot down five ATACMS missiles launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Bryansk region and damaged another. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called it a signal that the West wants to escalate the conflict.

Earlier, on November 17, The New York Times reported that incumbent US President Joe Biden allegedly authorized Ukraine to use US long-range missiles to strike Russia. The White House did not officially confirm this fact.

Peskov emphasized that such a move would be a qualitatively new round of tension. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that such use of missiles would receive an "adequate and tangible" response.

Ukraine has previously repeatedly threatened new attacks on the Crimean bridge by the Kiev regime in 2022 and 2023. Thus, in October 2022, a truck was blown up there. The victims were four people. In July 2023, two Ukrainian surface drones attacked the bridge near one of the pillars. A couple from the Belgorod region died, their daughter was hospitalized.
