Freezing the conflict in Ukraine is not suitable for Russia. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov told journalists on 20 November.

He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for contacts and negotiations.

"The President has also already said that some variant of freezing this conflict will not suit us. It is important for us to achieve our goals, which are well known to everyone," Peskov explained.

Earlier in the day, Reuters quoted sources as saying that Russia could allegedly agree to freeze the conflict along the front line, as well as give up the territory in Kharkiv region, which is controlled by Russian troops. The piece noted that Vladimir Putin is open to discussing a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine with Donald Trump, but rules out the possibility of any major territorial concessions and insists that Kiev give up its ambitions to join NATO.

On November 20, Dmitry Peskov said that Western politicians would continue to confront Russia "to the last Ukrainian."

Before that, the Russian presidential spokesman said that contacts between the press secretaries of the heads of state of Russia and the United States have been absent since the presidency of Barack Obama.

On November 19, Peskov named a condition for a dialog with the United States under Trump on the issue of peace in Ukraine. According to him, Trump's readiness to listen to Russia is a condition for the dialog.
