PCT named the top 3 popular countries for New Year holiday vacations

The most popular countries among Russians for New Year holidays were Russia, Georgia and Morocco. This was reported on November 20 by Valery Britaus, an expert of the Russian Union of Travel Industry on travel aggregators, during a press conference in Izvestia.

Also in the top were Sri Lanka and Maldives, he specified.

"If we are talking about countries, then first of all now we have Russia in the top, of course, followed by Georgia, Morocco, Sri Lanka and Maldives. If we are talking about regions, it is the Caucasus in general, and then Teriberka, Murmansk, Kola Peninsula," said Britaus.

He noted that closer to the New Year the demand for traveling in Russia will increase. Brithaus also warned that it is not worth booking tours on January 2-3, as there may not be enough hotel rooms.

Earlier, November 14, it was reported that the most budget travel option for the New Year may be a trip to Samara and Mineralnye Vody. And the most money Russians will spend if they go to Sochi and Kaliningrad.
