A Malay bear cub in the Moscow Zoo is gradually mastering natural skills, for example, learning to peel bark from trees. This was reported on November 19 in the Telegram-channel of the capital's zoo.

Head of the department "Mammals" Mikhail Bragin said that stripping bark from trees is a natural skill of Malay bears, necessary for opening stumps, logs and trunks in search of insects and their nests, according to the agency of city news "Moscow".

On November 14, it was reported that a Malayan bear cub tried out the first climbing shell imitating a tree. First he sniffed the ladder, and then began to try to conquer the top. By trial and error he learned the necessary skills, reports "Moscow 24".

The cub of the Malay bear settled in the capital's zoo in October. The six-month-old female was delivered from Malaysia as part of a conservation program. The cub was weighed for the first time the day after its arrival. The animal's body weight amounted to 7.2 kg, the website kp.ru specifies.

On November 12, zoo director Svetlana Akulova handed animal care worker certificates to students of the Holmogorka agrarian technical school in Volokolamsk, who mastered the new specialty. This is the second group from the Volokolamsk technical school, which is undergoing an educational program developed by the Moscow Zoo and the Center for reproduction of rare animal species, reports 360.ru. The aim of the program is to train specialists who will be able to make a great contribution to scientific research and biodiversity conservation.
