Mishustin instructed to annually allocate 2.6 billion rubles for the development of the film industry

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed on Wednesday, November 20, to allocate an additional 2.6 billion rubles annually in the next five years to support the production of Russian films. This is reported on the website of the Russian government.

"Provide for the allocation of these funds from the federal budget to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Culture. The results should be reported to the government by December 20," the publication says.

Mishustin emphasized the need to continue work on creating conditions for the development of the film industry, which is the basis for successful creative activity of filmmakers. According to him, it is important that cinema remains in demand, interesting and creative.

In addition, Prime Minister instructed to work on the possibility of exemption of individual entrepreneurs working in the field of film production, from VAT, as it is already provided for film organizations.

Earlier, on November 13, General Director of Mosfilm Karen Shakhnazarov pointed out at a meeting in the Kremlin with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Russian studio is the best equipped and meets its level.

Before that, on January 30, Shakhnazarov spoke to Izvestia about the self-sufficiency of Soviet cinematography. According to him, in the Soviet period, the film industry lacked a lot of things in the technical part. But at the same time those artistic ideas and a very creative atmosphere, as well as extraordinary masters who worked, were at the top, the director pointed out.
