Expert calls January the most unprofitable month for vacations in 2025

January, as well as May, June and November are the most unfavorable months for vacation next year. This was stated on November 20 by the head of legal practice of SuperJob service Alexander Yuzhalin.

"The most "unprofitable" month in 2025 will traditionally be January. Next we can highlight May, June and November. If you decide to go on vacation in these months, you can lose money (when paying vacation pay) compared to your salary. In these months it is profitable to work and get paid," he told RIA Novosti.

Yuzhalin noted that in the months with the least number of working days it is unprofitable to go on vacation, as the average daily earnings turn out to be lower than the cost of one working day. He emphasized that by law, the ratio of working days to days off in a month does not affect wages, but the cost per day may differ.

"To determine the cost of one working day, it is necessary to divide the monthly salary by the number of working days in the month. Accordingly, the fewer working days in a month, the higher the cost per working day will be," he explained.

Earlier, on October 28, the head of legal practice in SuperJob Alexander Yuzhalin said that the most profitable months for vacation in 2025 - July and October. He pointed out that vacation is always paid according to one rule - based on the average salary. Accordingly, to determine the profitability of using vacation in a particular month, you should compare your daily income in this month with the average daily wage.
