Peru has not joined the anti-Russian sanctions and firmly promises that it will not join them, Russian Ambassador to Lima Igor Romanchenko told Izvestia.

"At the same time, the so-called secondary sanctions are in effect here, and local banks are afraid to cooperate with us. Therefore, we'll live - we'll see how events will develop in the world as a whole, but in the near future we can't expect to establish interbank cooperation, unfortunately," he emphasized.

According to him, in the last 10 years the volume of mutual trade between Russia and Peru has not changed and remains, according to official statistics, at the level of $500 million per year. Realistically, the figure is about $700-800 million a year.

"In fact, unfortunately, there is no dynamics. As I have already said, we stand at the level of $500-800 million a year, with exports and imports roughly equal to each other," he clarified.
