Russia has developed anti-drone shelters for airplanes and helicopters. They consist of steel arches and cable sections that can contain even a fairly large drone. This was told to "Izvestia" in the company-developer Garda.

The protective structure for helicopters is a folding hemisphere with a diameter of 16 meters. This solution allows you to land a helicopter in the center of the shelter, after which you can spread a cable structure over it. It consists of a stiffening frame made of square steel pipe and a cable net. The mesh side of such a net varies from 18 to 50 mm.

Special hydraulic cylinders help to close and open the structure. The method of installation is fixation of the central nodes in the airfield surface. The weight of the shelter is about 10 tons.

There is a second variant of the shelter, which is simpler. With the help of eight poles and cable netting a rectangular shelter with a length of 32 m and width of 26 m and height of 9 m is constructed on the airfield.

The wire mesh protects aircraft from all sides. One of the sides - from where aircraft will be rolled - is a hinged canopy made of cable netting.

Such shelters will be able to save from kamikaze drones, military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia.

"A web of cables will stop any of them. Attempts to take out our aviation at airfields in this way have been recorded even deep inside the country," he said.
