Prosecutor General's Office demands to seize 25 million rubles from arrested FCS colonel

On November 20, the Nikulinsky court of Moscow will consider the suit of the Prosecutor General's Office to turn the property of Colonel of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) Alexander Aleyev into the property of the state. Now the ex-head of the Electronic Declaration Center of the Central Excise Customs of the FCS is a defendant in a criminal case of bribery.

In its lawsuit, the Prosecutor General's Office asks the court to seize $91 thousand and Br16 million (i.e. a total of about Br25 million) from Aleyev in favor of the Russian Federation. These funds were found during a search in the house of the customs officer. According to prosecutors, he had accumulated them using corrupt schemes.

As follows from the lawsuit, from 2001 to 2022, Alexander Aleev declared an income of Br18.7 million. Thus, the amount of money seized in his house clearly does not correspond to the official income received by the defendant, the lawsuit of the Prosecutor General's Office says.

It follows from Aleyev's testimony that he received the money seized during the search from another defendant in the case, Deputy Head of the Central Customs Directorate Alexander Beglov, "as a loan for personal purposes, as well as for the needs of the SVO".

However, in a conversation with investigators, Beglov denied this version of his colleague. He explained that from December 2022 to March 2023, he, together with Aleyev, received from businessmen two bribes totaling about $50 thousand for "unimpeded customs clearance of consumer goods and cars."

Colonel of the FCS Aleyev was arrested on March 23, 2023 on charges of bribery. As previously reported by Izvestiya source in law enforcement agencies, it was about the amount of 3.8 million rubles. However, according to the information set forth in the lawsuit, now Aleyev is imputed 2.5 million rubles, which is a large and especially large size.
