- Political scientist in the project "Historical Truth" told about the transformation of Ukraine into anti-Russia

Within the framework of the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Historical Truth. Lessons of History" the deputy chairman of the Public Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Ulyanovsk region, political scientist, professor of the Ural State Pedagogical University Nina Dergunova answered topical questions concerning the events taking place in Ukraine.
Dergunova stated that the divergence of the Russian Federation and Ukraine was established back in the 1990s, mainly because of the need for self-determination for the people of the country, which ceased to be a single entity. According to the political scientist, Ukraine, unlike Belarus, chose "the path of confrontation and difference."
"The question of confrontation, of some difference, of separation, of divergence between Russia and Ukraine was immediately raised. Otherwise, there will be no national identity of Ukraine as a new state. And, naturally, this non-Russian or non-Russian identity could be based only on the mentality of Western Ukraine as the most distant from Russia," Dergunova said.
The political analyst emphasized that such a trajectory brought funding from the West to the country, as European countries supported the infringement of the rights of Russians, the Russian language, the split of the church and the displacement of Russian business. Dergunova pointed out that over the years Ukraine has lost its independence and has become "only a tool of the West in pressuring Russia."
"Historical Truth. Lessons of History" is a project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in which professors, historians and political scientists took part. In the online lessons they commented on current topics concerning the situation in Ukraine and its historical preconditions. Video recordings of online lessons by Dergunova and other speakers are available on the website of the Interior Ministry. As noted in the department, the lectures in the project "Historical Truth. Lessons of history" are formed on the principle of enlightenment and reliance on encyclopedic reliable facts of historical processes.
Earlier, on September 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the objective interpretation of history with the members of the Security Council. The head of state emphasized that in recent years history is very often used for political purposes, and in bad faith, and this must be combated.
