TheUnited States decided to lift restrictions on strikes on Russian territory with American long-range weapons because of desperation. This was the opinion shared by former CIA officer and analyst Raymond McGovern in an interview on the YouTube channel Judge Napolitano - Judging Freedom on November 18.

McGovern agreed with former judge and channel host Andrew Napolitano that the decision on the part of current U.S. President Joe Biden was reckless, and that it was likely made by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the president's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan.

"But I would even say it's a pointless decision because it's not going to change anything. We've known for a long time that most Russian strategic sites have been moved beyond the range of ATACMS long-range missiles. <...> There are other things that point not so much to the folly of this decision as to its hopelessness. Biden's idea <...> is to see if it can provoke [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to do something stupid," the former CIA officer said, noting that the Russian leader is smart enough not to go along with these provocations.

To top it all off, he noted that the army of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) has a large arsenal of possible actions, while Ukraine's air defense capabilities are "zero."

"The authorization to use missiles to strike deep into Russia allows Biden and his satraps to say that they gave Ukraine everything they asked for. <...> And when [newly elected US Republican President-elect Donald] Trump came in, the Ukrainians lost to the bad Russians," the analyst added.

He pointed out that the administration of the current head of the United States is trying to give Ukraine absolutely everything that the country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20), whose requests can be assessed as aggressive, demands.

On the eve of the head of the diplomatic service of the European Union (EU) Josep Borrell confirmed that the US administration has lifted restrictions on strikes by US missiles at a distance of up to 300 kilometers deep into the territory of Russia. At the same time, Deputy National Security Advisor to the US President John Feiner did not confirm that Washington had given such authorization to Kiev. The official emphasized that the White House in making its decisions proceeds from the situation on the battlefield. Later it became known that French President Emmanuel Macron positively assessed the decision of the American authorities.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that Kiev's possible use of long-range missiles for such purposes would receive an "adequate and tangible" response. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the topic, pointed out that such a move by the United States would be a qualitatively new round of tension.

In turn, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto called the remaining months of President Biden's term the most dangerous in recent decades. According to him, Kiev's authorization to launch strikes with American weapons deep into Russia creates the danger of a world war.

Ukraine's allies do not expect the US decision to fundamentally change the balance of power on the battlefield,Gazeta.Ruadded. It has become known that officials do not believe that such a move by the US will change the balance in the conflict, in which Ukrainian troops have been losing ground in recent months.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was made by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
