On November 19, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented to Izvestia on The Times' accusations of Russia's sabotage of the Baltic telecommunications cable C-Lion1.

The article in question is an article by the British newspaper in which the authors express concern over Russia's alleged involvement in the sabotage. The text notes that the incident "could have been a training session for a larger attack by Moscow."

"Perhaps countries that are concerned about their security should reallocate funds properly and allocate more to domestic needs, rather than sponsoring the terrorist Kiev regime? It's a strange logic: shouting to the whole world that they can't cope with their domestic problems, while at the same time spending billions on the maniacal drug addict [ Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky," she said.

Thebreakage of the communication cable between Lithuania and Sweden, laid on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, became known on November 18. According to preliminary data, the wire was cut, an investigation is underway. The company Telia Lietuva indicated that the damaged cable is quite old, and there have already been several accidents with it. It was noted that no cases of sabotage at the site had been recorded before.

On the same day, the C-Lion1 telecommunications cable, which runs under the Baltic Sea between Finland and Germany, was severed. The cable runs next to a gas pipeline. Cinia, a fiber optic network construction company, told the media that the cable had been cut. The German and Finnish foreign ministries said in a joint statement that they were investigating the incident.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said the damage to the C-Lion1 telecommunications cable, which runs along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, was likely caused by sabotage. He also added that the German Defense Ministry had no information about who exactly could have carried out this act of sabotage.
