- Nauseda urged not to draw quick conclusions about the causes of the cable break in the Baltic Sea

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that it is too early to draw conclusions about the cause of damage to an underwater communication cable laid on the bottom of the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Sweden. The LRT portal said on its website on November 19.
"In this case, it is probably too early to draw final conclusions, but, of course, both options are possible (sabotage or negligence. - Ed)," he said.
The Lithuanian President noted that previous cases of failure in the Baltic Sea were equally often connected with both malicious actions and unintentional irresponsibility.
The situation is being discussed with the security services, Nauseda specified.
According to the portal, the Lithuanian Prosecutor's Office clarifies the circumstances of the incident and collects information about the incident.
Earlier, on November 18, it became known about the broken communication cable laid on the bottom of the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Sweden. Communication with Sweden is provided by three cables, and due to the incident, access to Internet resources decreased by one third. The damaged cable is quite old and there have already been several accidents with it. No cases of sabotage have been recorded.
