Russian scientist, doctor of chemical sciences Sergey Gubin died at the age of 87. This was reported by a source of "Izvestia" on November 19.

The professor died the day before in his apartment on Leninsky Prospekt. The body was found by his wife Elena Buslaeva.

It is known that in the last years of life, the scientist was fighting oncology. Preliminary, the cause of death could be acute heart failure.

Gubin was a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR and Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation. He created and headed the first laboratory of nanomaterials chemistry in Russia.
