Criminal cases against seven servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been sent to a military court for consideration on the merits. This was reported by the military prosecutor's office of the Moscow Military District on November 19.

It is specified that we are talking about servicemen of the 202nd battalion of the 103rd territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), namely Anatoliy Voloshin, Volodymyr Arshulik, Serhiy Karaev, Oleksandr Doychuk, Zinoviy Sigerich, Andrian Kulbaba and Oleg Vovk. They are accused under p. "a" and p. "v" part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, causing significant property damage or other grave consequences").

"According to the investigation, in early August this year armed with combat automatic small arms and large caliber weapons with the use of explosive devices, the Ukrainian military, violating the sovereignty of the Russian Federation, illegally invaded the territory of Korenevsky district of Kursk region in order to carry out terrorist activities," the military prosecutor's office said in a statement.

It added that the militants equipped firing positions on the territory of the mentioned area, regularly opened fire on the Russian Armed Forces military and civilians, forbidding the latter to move and use telephone communication, as well as prevented their evacuation.

"All the accused were detained by Russian servicemen between September 13 and 15. The Leninsky district court of Kursk chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention," the agency concluded.

The day before, Rosfinmonitoring added to the list of terrorists and extremists a mercenary from New Zealand, Jordan O'Brian, and two mercenaries from the United States, Derrick Bales and Daniel Bernard Rebar, who took part in the fighting on the side of the AFU in the special operation zone. Also added to the list were the former head of the main intelligence directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Vasyl Burba, Ukrainian Colonel Roman Kachuri, two AFU fighters who are accused of crimes committed in Kursk Region, Ivan Dmitrakov and Vitaliy Panchenko. In addition, Ukrainian General Dmytro Krasilnikov, who is also involved in crimes in Kursk Region, was added to the list of terrorists and extremists.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The liquidation of the AFU units that invaded Russian territory is underway. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
