On Tuesday, November 19, Moscow honored the memory of the USSR Chief Marshals of Artillery in honor of the beginning of the Stalingrad offensive operation.

It is specified that the event was held in the Necropolis at the Kremlin wall. There are buried the chief marshals of artillery - Nikolai Voronov and Mitrofan Nedelin, to their graves laid flowers.

Vladimir Zaritsky, former head of missile troops and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces, also noted during the commemorative event the successes of the modern generation of artillerymen who are in the zone of the Special Military Operation (SMO).

"Day and night the defeat of the enemy is carried out, complex tasks are performed, tasks are solved minute by minute, hour by hour. And we can now observe that successes during the special military operation are also ensured by the labor of artillerymen," he said.

On the same day, veterans of the Great Patriotic War shared their memories of the offensive at Stalingradwith Izvestia.

Thus, Evgeny Rogov said that he was drafted after the tenth grade and got into the 28th Army, which was the most extreme in the Battle of Stalingrad. When it was possible to defend Stalingrad, the expulsion of Nazi troops from the territory of the country all the way to Berlin began. Rogov himself was later transferred to the troops that were specially allocated for the liberation of Romania and Bulgaria.

In turn, the participant of the battle for Stalingrad Elizaveta Didenko said that she was drafted into the army almost from the first days of the Great Patriotic War. During the Battle of Stalingrad she served in the 62nd Army as an artillery gunner.

On November 19, 1942 the Soviet troops launched a counter-offensive at Stalingrad. The operation was code-named "Uranus". As a result, the German 6th Army under the command of Friedrich Paulus was defeated.
