Kaliningrad resident accused of embezzling 13 million rubles through the "Pushkin Card"

In Kaliningrad, a 21-year-old resident is accused of embezzling budget funds worth 13 million rubles with the help of the state program "Pushkin Card". This was reported on November 19 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC IC) for the region.

The man is charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on a large scale").

According to the investigation, in 2022, the accused, in order to embezzle funds, registered on the platform "RRO.Culture.RF" five individual entrepreneurs (IE) as organizers of cultural events and placed information about the conduct of excursions in the region. Then, using electronic "Pushkin cards", the accused fraudulently stole more than 13 million rubles.

"At present, the Kaliningrad resident is detained, questioned as a suspect, he is charged and at the request of the investigation the court has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest. Searches were conducted in the dwelling of the defendant and at the place of registration of individual entrepreneurs, declared as organizers of cultural events," - added in the department.

Currently, law enforcers continue to establish all the circumstances of the crime.

Earlier, November 13, in Moscow detained an entrepreneur who committed a scam with "Pushkin cards" for 100 million rubles. Preliminary, together with accomplices, the intruder held performances, the attendance of which could be paid for, including with the help of "Pushkin card". A criminal case under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was initiated against the man. The defendant is in custody, his accomplices are being sought.
