Mincifra has proposed the creation of a biometrics database of phone scammers

Russia may implement databases of biometric voice samples of telephone fraudsters as a defense measure against cybercrime. This was announced on November 19 by the country's Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadaev during the inter-industry conference "Customer Safety Comes First".
"A large package of anti-cybercrime measures is being discussed now. Among these measures, for example, it is discussed that we should in any case form a database of biometric samples of fraudsters," the head of the agency said.
Telephone connections with the fraudster, whose voice is already registered in the unified database, will be terminated and blocked.
The Minister also noted the importance of using artificial intelligence (AI) to protect subscribers. He described the possibility of telecom operators to use AI to detect fraudulent activities as a future norm of the law.
The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media (Mincifry) regularly proposes and implements projects to ensure the comfort and safety of Russian citizens.
For example, on November 2, the agency proposed to launch biometrics for the purchase of energy drinks and confirmation abroad of the right to a pension, as well as to expand the possibility of its use to enter "Gosuservices".
Prior to that, on October 8, the Ministry of Digitization drafted a bill to ban anonymous mass advertising calls in Russia. According to the project, Russians will be able to refuse mass calls and choose the companies that will be allowed to call.
