Relations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are pragmatic in nature. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this on November 19 at a meeting titled "New opportunities for cooperation between Indian and Russian media: strengthening ties between the peoples of India and Russia."

"We are now developing our relations in all possible spheres. I did a little research, in fact the volume of trade, the volume of trade and economic cooperation, has really experienced explosive growth," he said.

Peskov drew attention to the fact that Russia supplies India not only with energy resources, but also cooperates in high-tech spheres.

In addition, the Kremlin spokesman said that India is experiencing unprecedented pressure from the United States in the context of relations with the Russian side. However, Moscow is confident that New Delhi will get rid of it, Peskov assured.

"We know and understand very well that India is facing unprecedented pressure. Unprecedented, sometimes inexcusable pressure from the United States. But together, I have no doubt, we will get rid of this inexcusable pressure," he said.

Peskov cited the US imposition of its policies on Indian banks as an example.

Earlier, on November 7, Putin called India a natural partner and ally of Russia for decades, during which the Russian side has developed "unique in its quality and level of trust in its relations" with the Indian people.

Prior to this, on November 5, Putin said that Russia-India relations have reached the level of a particularly privileged strategic partnership, with the countries working closely together. He recalled that he held substantive talks with Modi at the BRICS summit in Kazan.
