Finland suspended operation of Loviisa NPP unit due to a malfunction

Electricity production at the second unit of the Loviisa nuclear power plant (NPP) in Finland has been interrupted due to a malfunction. This was reported by the operator company Fortum on November 18.

It is specified that the incident occurred at 21:55 Moscow time, the cause of the malfunction is specified.

"The first unit of the power plant is operating in normal mode", - stated in the publication.

Loviisa NPP is located on the Finnish island of Hästholmen, 15 kilometers southeast of the town of Loviisa. The power plant's two reactors produce more than 10% of the electricity consumed in Finland, Gazeta.Ru added.

Earlier, on October 9, the third unit of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland halved its capacity due to a technical fault. As a result of the incident, the production capacity was approximately 1,220 MW.

Before that, on June 3, the operation of Olkiluoto-3 NPP was suspended due to a turbine malfunction.
