The court passed a sentence against a couple from the village of Balakhta, Krasnoyarsk region, sentencing the husband and wife to three and 3.5 years of suspended imprisonment with a probation period of two years for defrauding an orphan of 1.2 million rubles. This was reported by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the region on November 19.

According to the materials of the case (part 3, 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "Fraud"), in 2021 the couple decided to buy a new home, but the purchase was too expensive for them. Then they decided to "take advantage of the kindness" of an orphan who had lived with them since 2017, to whom the state provided an apartment in the city of Uzhur. The spouses convinced the young man to sell the apartment for 800 thousand rubles.

"The proceeds he handed over to his false-fathers and according to the "plan" moved into their old house. But the money for the "expansion of living space" was still not enough. Then the family asked the orphan to still take a loan in his name in the amount of 500 thousand rubles," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the Department.

As a result, the couple moved into new housing, and the young man worked, paid off the loan and wandered around the night shelters. In the future, the accomplices did not fulfill their promise: the house was not rewritten and the money was not returned. The defendants refused to admit guilt, stating that "there was no deception" and that they raised the young man as their "native son".

In early September it was reported that the general director of a construction company in Uzhur (Krasnoyarsk region) will be tried for fraud with housing for orphans. Under his leadership, houses were built in which it is impossible to live. According to the version of investigators, in 2020, the figurehead built a four-apartment house in Dachny Lane. A year later, the apartments were bought by the city administration, and orphans began to move in. It turned out that the walls of the housing were covered with fungus and mold, and the house itself could not withstand cold weather.
