- Media has learned about the intention of the U.S. Department of Justice to require Google to sell Chrome

Officials of the U.S. Department of Justice have asked the court to force Google to sell its Chrome browser. This is reported on Tuesday, November 19, Bloomberg, citing sources.
The material notes that officials are asking the court to impose new restrictions on Google related to artificial intelligence (AI) and Android, after the court recognized the company as a monopoly in the search market. There are also plans to impose data licensing requirements. These measures could severely impact the online search market and the AI industry.
"The government putting its thumb on the scale in this way will hurt consumers, developers and American technology leadership at precisely the time when it is most needed," said Google Vice President Lee-Anne Mulholland.
U.S. antitrust authorities are considering forcing the corporation to sell Chrome because of its market dominance (61% in the U.S.) and its ties to Google's search engine. However, they refused from a more radical measure - the sale of the Android operating system.
Earlier, on September 18, the European Court of Justice annulled the fine imposed by the European Commission (EC) on the U.S. company Google in the amount of almost € 1.5 billion for alleged abuse of dominance in the Internet advertising market. It was noted that the European Commission did not take into account all the circumstances when assessing the validity of the contractual provisions that the EC found abusive.
