Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov reported about a new fraudulent scheme through the messenger Telegram, where users can be sent a subscription to Telegram Premium "as a gift". He told about it to the agency "Prime" on November 19.

According to him, active users of the messenger, wishing to switch to the privileged version of the subscription, may stumble upon fraudsters. A Telegram Premium subscription can be purchased for a certain period of time by paying for it, giving it to someone or receiving it as a gift. Attackers hack into one user's account and send information to contacts about the gifted Telegram-premium subscription.

"Next comes a link similar to the messenger link. Going through it can lead to the hacking of an account on "Gosusluga" with consequences in the form of theft of money and personal data. But you can also lose your Telegram account. Having seized it, the scammers send out requests to transfer money to a bank card generated by them on behalf of the user," the expert said.

Solovyov noted that after losing the account, the victim may also receive calls from false law enforcement officers offering to save accounts, transfer money, take mirror loans and sell their homes.

"Be vigilant, misfortunes can start with a rash click on just one link. In the case of a premium subscription gift, don't be lazy, call the generous giver's regular phone number. If he is not listed as the sender of the gift, it is a fraud," the expert added.

Earlier, on November 16, Solovyov said that phone con artists invented a new scheme to hack into accounts on "Gosusluga" and other services. They operate in two stages under the guise of employees of "Russian Post" and law enforcement agencies.
