Peskov spoke about adjustments to Russia's nuclear doctrine

The wording of adjustments to the nuclear doctrine is almost ready, but it has not been documented. This was reported by Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov on November 19.
"[Adjustments to the nuclear doctrine] have not been formalized yet. They have already been practically formulated. They will be formalized as necessary," TASS quoted him as saying.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 25 that the foundations of the state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence should be adapted to modern realities. Thus, aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state with the participation or support of a nuclear state is proposed to be considered as a joint attack. The conditions for Russia's transition to the use of nuclear weapons are also clearly fixed, the Russian leader noted.
The next day, Peskov pointed out that the update of Russia's nuclear doctrine should be considered a certain signal to unfriendly countries.
Commenting on this, American political scientist Garland Nixon called the pressure of Western countries the reason for the changes in Russia's nuclear policy. The political scientist also emphasized that any country, especially a nuclear power, that would face such a threat would act like the Russian Federation.
