Israeli foreign minister holds Iraq responsible for the actions of pro-Iranian groups

Iraq is responsible for the actions of pro-Iranian groups that are committed from its territory against Israel. This was stated by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on November 18.
"I sent a letter to the chairman of the UN Security Council calling for immediate action regarding the activities of pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, whose territory is being used to attack Israel. The Iraqi government is responsible for everything that happens on its territory. Israel has the right to self-defense as enshrined in the UN Charter," he wrote on his social media page X (formerly Twitter).
Saar also pointed out that the letter also called for ensuring that Iraq fulfills its obligations to respect and uphold international law.
Earlier, on November 15, the media reported on the destruction by Israel of a nuclear research facility in Iran. It was specified that the Taleghan 2 facility, which was hit, was chosen by Israel "in retaliation for Iran's massive missile attack on October 1."
On October 1, Iran carried out a massive missile attack on Israel. Jewish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tehran had made a big mistake and would pay for it.
Meanwhile, on November 14, Fadi al-Shamri, political adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister, told Izvestia that Baghdad has taken a number of measures to prevent the use of its land and air space for military purposes.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected Israel's territory to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
