Nebenzya says Russia's military defeat is impossible

Military defeat of the Russian Federation is impossible, including on the basis of historical lessons. This was stated by Russia's Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya at a meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on November 18.
"We advise you to forget about attempts to defeat Russia on the battlefield. Europe has tried to do this more than once, and it is well known how it ended for it each time," he emphasized.
In turn, Nebenzya said that the reason why US President Joe Biden authorized strikes on Russian territory with long-range missiles is that the American leader "has nothing to lose for many reasons." However, as the Permanent Representative emphasized, such actions also draw Europe into a potential major conflict.
Nebenzya also noted that the "absolutely senseless foray into the Kursk region" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the attempt to seize and mine the Kursk nuclear power plant was a "fatal mistake." At the same time, he pointed out, continued Western financial support has only served to enrich arms companies and promote corruption.
"[This] has accelerated Ukraine's imminent impending defeat on the battlefield, which no amount of new Western weaponry will help it avoid," the Russian ambassador pointed out.
Earlier, on November 17, The New York Times reported that U.S. President Joe Biden had allegedly authorized Ukraine to use U.S. long-range missiles to strike Russia. The Le Figaro newspaper said at the same time that the French and British authorities had made a similar decision, but then removed this information from the article. EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrel said afterwards that on November 18-19 the issue of lifting restrictions on strikes deep into Russia with European weapons would be discussed.
At the same time, Deputy National Security Advisor to the US President John Feiner did not confirm on November 18 that Washington had given such permission to Kiev. The official emphasized that the White House bases its decisions on the situation on the battlefield.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the possible authorization for Ukraine to use ATACMS for strikes on Russian territory, pointed out that such a move by the USA would become a qualitatively new round of tension, and Moscow 's position on this issue is clear to everyone.
On September 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a possible agreement between the USA and the European Union on strikes by Western weapons on Russian territory would speak about their direct participation in the Ukrainian conflict and would fundamentally change its essence.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
