Participants of the G20 Leaders' Summit in Rio de Janeiro in the final declaration welcomed all constructive initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

"We welcome all relevant and constructive initiatives aimed at supporting comprehensive, just and lasting peace in accordance with all the purposes and principles of the UN Charter to promote peaceful, friendly and good-neighborly relations among peoples," the declaration said.

It is specified that the proposals should contribute to the resolution of global food and energy problems, as well as to ensure macro-financial stability.

Earlier, on November 18, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a press conference on the margins of the summit of G20 leaders in Rio de Janeiro said about the importance of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

On the same day, the Bloomberg agency reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to voice an initiative to freeze the Ukrainian conflict along the front line at the summit of G20 countries. The agency also specified that more and more of Kiev's allies recognize that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired on 20 May) will have to compromise with Russia to end the conflict and are pushing him to consider the possibilities for negotiations.

Before that, on November 13, The Washington Post quoted European officials as saying that the EU was preparing for talks between Russia and Ukraine. According to this information, the talks may include discussions on territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees for Kiev.

Back in June, Vladimir Putin named the conditions for negotiations on Ukraine. The Russian president said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces should be completely withdrawn from the territories of the DNR, LNR, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions, and Kiev should give up the idea of joining NATO.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
