The President of Abkhazia tendered his resignation


President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania submitted his resignation. This was reported on November 19 in the press service of the President in Telegram-channel with reference to the agreement signed between representatives of the authorities and the opposition.
"The President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania submits his resignation," - stated in the message.
It is specified that the protesters, who gathered on the territory of the complex of government buildings, must leave the territory. If the requirement is not fulfilled, the president will take away the statement.
Vice-President Badra Gunba becomes acting president of the Republic of Abkhazia. He also dismisses Abkhazian Prime Minister Alexander Ankvab, who submitted his resignation along with the president, and appoints Valery Bganba to his position.
Such changes will be in force until the election of a new president of Abkhazia.
Earlier, on November 16, Bzhania said that he was ready to resign after the protesters leave the parliament building in Sukhum.
Before that, on November 15, a truck of protesters broke down the gate of the parliament fence and part of the protesters passed into the territory. Abkhazian media noted that the opposition protesters were clashing with the police, throwing eggs and plastic bottles at law enforcers.
The same day Bzhania left the building of the Interior Ministry of the republic, from where he had previously addressed supporters, and went to Tamish.
On November 11th eyewitnesses reported clashes near the building of the State Security Service of Abkhazia. Later, Abkhazian Prosecutor General Adgur Agrba said that operatives identified, detained and placed several people in the temporary detention center of the Interior Ministry, later they were released.
