Lavrov speaks of an unprecedented level of development of relations between Russia and China

Strategic relations between Russia and China are at an unprecedented level of development. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the margins of the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Rio de Janeiro on November 19.

"We are indeed at an unprecedented stage in the development of our strategic relations of comprehensive partnership, and this is confirmed by regular contacts between President (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and President (of China) Xi Jinping," Lavrov said.

He specified that the model of relations between the countries is very attractive for other like-minded states, and this is manifested in the BRICS activities.

Lavrov also pointed to the desire to work together with China on platforms other than BRICS.

"We have no doubt that we will continue to work as successfully in unison in all other platforms, including the SCO, where China serves as chairman, as well as in the G20, APEC and, of course, in the UN and its Security Council," the Russian Foreign Minister said.

The press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting paid special attention to the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, including during the BRICS summit in Kazan, the parties also planned future contacts in various formats.

Earlier, on October 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Russian-Chinese interaction one of the key factors of stability in the world. He added that such a position is obvious and many share it.

Prior to that, on October 16, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with Premier Li Qiang of China's State Council that Russia and China are strengthening economic cooperation despite unprecedented external pressure.

On October 14, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov pointed to the importance of military cooperation between Russia and China. He noted that the friendly relations between the two countries are at an unprecedented level and maintain high dynamics of development.
