Servicemen of the self-propelled artillery regiment of the 4th Armored Division of the "West" group of troops told Izvestia about their combat work in Kharkiv Region.

The soldiers have to fight off air attacks every day, so in addition to the main combat units, the regiment has at its disposal air guard posts with automatic rifles, anti-drone guns and even 3D glasses.

Special attention is paid to the protection of the guns, because for the servicemen the combat vehicle is like a member of the crew.

"As soon as we were given our "Grandpa", so immediately I became a gun commander. We all call it that. The machine is old, but it is vigorous. It is also a member of the crew, it works as well as everyone else, maybe even more," said the commander of the gun "Hyacinth-S" with the call sign Balu.

Over two years of special operations, the unit has helped liberate hundreds of kilometers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Now the artillery regiment is working on the Kupyansk direction.

"Now in the Kharkiv region, and more specifically in the Kupyansk direction, the front has not just intensified - it is humming. Our troops are rapidly moving forward, so a lot depends on these people who fire self-propelled howitzers," said Izvestia correspondent Oleksandr Fedorchak.

Earlier, on October 3, the calculation of the 152-millimeter towed gun "Hyacinth-B" of the artillery regiment of the All-War Army of the Army Group "West" hit an AFU stronghold. As a result, the Russian infantry was able to advance and occupy more favorable lines.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
