- MEPhI opened a center for participation in the field of thermonuclear research

The National Research Nuclear University (NRNU) MEPhI opened a center for remote participation in thermonuclear research on Monday, November 18. The platform will unite the world's most important scientific departments.
Specialists have created a training tokamak, an installation for holding high-temperature plasma by magnetic fields, with the help of which hundreds of children will be able to practice on it. Students will have an opportunity to become specialists not only in theoretical but also in practical competencies, said Alexei Likhachev, head of Rosatom.
"From today we are throwing a bridge to the future. This is the next national project "New Nuclear Power Technologies" and the creation of a tokamak with reactor technologies as part of it," he said.
In the future, participants of the unified information space in the field of thermonuclear research will be able to remotely connect to experiments at the international thermonuclear reactor ITER. The scientific project will appear in France with the participation of Russia.
On the same day it was reported that the tokamak launch at MEPhI became part of the federal project "Development of controlled fusion technologies and innovative plasma technologies" of the comprehensive program "Development of equipment, technologies and scientific research in the field of atomic energy use in the Russian Federation".
