The defense of former Deputy Minister of Culture Olga Yarilova intends to appeal against the verdict. This was reported to "Izvestia" on November 18 by her lawyer Sergei Dyakin.

"On cassation, yes, we will appeal both the verdict and the appeal ruling," he said.

Earlier in the day, the Moscow City Court recognized Yarilova's sentence - seven years in prison - in the case of abuse of power as lawful. According to the investigation, Yarilova spent 125 million rubles on the "World's Tallest Ice Cream Museum", which is not a cultural object, but was available to the public under the "Pushkin Card". The museum is located in one of the Moscow City towers and is registered as a private organization.

Yarilova was detained on April 19, 2023 and soon arrested. The former deputy minister does not admit guilt. In addition, Yarilova called the charge incomprehensible and contradictory.

Later, in December 2023, the chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, indicated that the investigation arrested the property of the former deputy minister in the amount of 39 million rubles, because the actions of the former official caused property damage to the Russian budget.

Yarilova worked in the Ministry of Culture since 2005, in 2018 she took the post of deputy head of the agency. In September 2022, she left the post at her own request.
