The authorities authorized Gazprom to build the Volkhov-Murmansk gas pipeline

The Russian Government has transferred the construction of the Volkhov-Murmansk gas trunkline to Gazprom. This is reported in the government order, published on November 18 on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The document, approved on November 16, lists the main gas pipelines, the construction, reconstruction and overhaul of which are entrusted to Gazprom as a natural monopoly of gas transportation through pipelines.
The list includes, in particular, the Volkhov - Murmansk, Volkhov - Segezha - Kostomuksha and Power of Siberia trunk pipelines. In addition, the company has been given work on the branch from the Sakhalin - Khabarovsk - Vladivostok gas trunkline to the border with China and a gas pipeline to supply fuel to consumers from the northern and northeastern regions of Kazakhstan.
Earlier, on September 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there is an opportunity to speed up the construction of the Far Eastern gas pipeline Power of Siberia-2 because there are good prospects for expanding cooperation with friendly countries on gas transportation. The head of state added that the Russian energy industry is protected from external shocks.
On the same day, Putin drew attention to the fact that Russian gas and oil companies feel confident and are developing despite illegal and endless sanctions by Western countries. The President reminded that the fuel and energy complex (FEC) of the Russian Federation is successfully developing a number of major backbone projects.
