The doctor told about the dangers of gallstone disease

The gallbladder stores bile. It participates in the digestive processes. But with hormonal failure, metabolic disorders in the body and when taking certain drugs can occur stagnation of bile, which then leads to the emergence of stones, told "Izvestia" surgeon of the clinic "Crede Experto" on Taganka Leonid Lyulko.
"The presence of stones in the gallbladder can for a long time clinically not manifest itself in any way, but over time the patient will have health problems. First, stones can traumatize the gallbladder wall and cause inflammation. First, non-infectious, and then purulent. Recurrence can lead to perforation of the gallbladder wall and the development of biliary peritonitis, in which bile together with pus enters the abdominal cavity," - said the expert.
With purulent inflammation, the patient will feel sharp pain, may rise in temperature, added Lyulko.
"When the gallbladder contracts during meals to eject an additional portion of bile, the walls of the gallbladder bump into stones, there is a painful attack. Stones can also get stuck at the exit of the gallbladder, which provokes pain," he explained.
According to him, constant traumatization of the gallbladder walls by the stone and chronic inflammation in it can lead to the development of a malignant tumor.
"And if stones from the gallbladder slip into the ducts, block them, in this case, the outflow of bile from the liver to the 12-peritoneum is completely stopped. Bile begins to be absorbed from the liver into the blood and the eye membrane and skin become colored. Jaundice develops, which can lead to acute liver failure," the expert specified.
He said that in acute liver failure in the tests will be highly elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood - the main specific indicator of the work of the liver and bile ducts. Also, he added, gallstone disease leads to a malfunction of the pancreas, the most severe complication of which is its acute inflammation - pancreonecrosis.
Pancreonecrosis, caused by gallstone disease, is accompanied by high mortality rates - up to 50%, recalled Lulko and urged to seek medical attention when ailing.
Earlier, on October 3, Natalia Kharchenko, gastroenterologist at EMC European Medical Center, said that the most common cause of vitamin absorption disorders is biliary dyskinesia, i.e. uneven release of bile. According to the specialist, first of all, the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K is disturbed. Bile outflow can be impeded due to stress, which affects hormonal and nervous signals. Another significant factor is considered to be the lack of healthy fats in the diet. Such deficiency slows down the biliary tract and leads to the formation of thick bile and gallstones.
