- Media has learned of the British Air Force's ability to install DragonFire lasers on airplanes

The British Armed Forces may install DragonFire laser weapons on airplanes and military ground vehicles in the next 10 years. This was reported by The Telegraph on November 18.
"The revolutionary £10 laser (about $12.63. - Ed.), per shot capable of destroying missiles and drones, could be installed on British ground vehicles and aircraft within a decade," the newspaper said in its publication.
According to Steve Wadey, CEO of QinetiQ, the company involved in the development of the weapon, they are targeting the naval program - 2027. He noted that with the necessary funding, land application can be realized in a similar timeframe, and after that within 5-10 years the laser can be seen in aviation.
In May, it was reported that the UK Royal Marines will receive up to six new ships that will be able to launch drones and fire laser weapons from them. At that time it was noted that the ships are planned to install a powerful laser beam DragonFire, capable of shooting down enemy drones and missiles.
Before that, on March 12, the UK Ministry of Defense showed footage from the tests of laser weapons DragonFire. The ministry showed the operation of the detection and target designation system, the use of the laser against static targets, as well as tests at a test site on the Hebrides Islands.
