Beglov and Golikova visited the Silver Center in St. Petersburg

Governor Alexander Beglov visited the "Silver Center" in Moskovsky district together with Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova and discussed with elderly Petersburgers the city project "Silver Age". This was reported by the press service of the Governor.
In St. Petersburg there are 418 sites for senior citizens on the basis of 145 state institutions of various branches. The city has 18 integrated social service centers, said Governor Alexander Beglov.
"The President of Russia announced the launch of a new national project "Long and Active Life". It is aimed at improving the health and quality of life of the elderly. Our project "Silver Age" fully meets the objectives of this national project. Taking care of people of the older generation is one of St. Petersburg's development priorities for the coming years. The President has supported St. Petersburg initiative", - noted the head of the city.
According to him, funds for the implementation of the project have already been included in the city budget.
As Golikova noted, comprehensive centers are "really the best practices" that allow citizens to find something to do, make new friends and acquire a new profession. "And the most important thing is to be in demand. This is very important. Such practices will continue under the new national project 'Family'," she said.
It is planned to allocate almost 18 trillion rubles over six years to support the national project, Golikova added.
The project "Silver Age" will be implemented in three priority areas: increasing the availability of medical care for elderly citizens of St. Petersburg, expanding opportunities for their leisure and participation in the cultural life of the city. It will be possible to use the services of the complex centers free of charge, without being tied to the place of residence.
In addition, new large urban centers with swimming pools, sports grounds, studios will be built in Primorsky and Krasnogvardeysky districts, on the borders of Nevsky and Frunzensky districts, as well as Krasnoselsky and Kirovsky districts. Eight district centers will also be built.
