A psychotherapist gave advice on how to combat feelings of constant fatigue
Armenuhi Arakelyan, a psychotherapist of the Semeynaya clinic chain, told Izvestia about the reasons for the feeling of constant fatigue and ways to eliminate the problem.
"First of all, check your regimen. When we feel tired, can't rest overnight, then perhaps the problem is the lack or, on the contrary, more sleep than the body needs. To feel us awake during the day, it is necessary to observe the sleep and wakefulness regime, and here it is very important to adhere to the rules. The most difficult thing in these rules nowadays is the ability to put aside gadgets in time, to dim the light in the evening (and bright light during the day is also an important condition for vigor), to set the right temperature in the room," she said.
According to her, if the quantity and quality of sleep is sufficient, then perhaps the problem is rest, for example, it is worth taking a vacation at work.
"If you have adjusted sleep and properly rested, but still feel tired, it is already better to contact specialists. First of all, to the therapist. He will assume a certain range of conditions and diseases that can lead to chronic fatigue, and refer for examination and other specialists," Arakelyan explained.
As she pointed out, the reasons for the feeling of constant fatigue can be a lack of vitamins and minerals, improper diet, anemia, viral disease. In addition, neurological and mental disorders, as well as endocrine disorders such as insulin resistance or hypothyroidism can cause such a condition.
Arakelyan pointed out that psychotherapists pay attention to the symptomatology of depressive disorder and similar conditions when complaining of constant fatigue. Many specialists call them asthenic states or asthenodepressive syndrome. Not only depressive disorders, but also the entire spectrum of anxiety disorders (this can include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and phobic conditions), various sleep disorders, and eating disorders can manifest with fatigue.
She noted that general recommendations include adherence to sleep and rest patterns and quality, a balanced diet, moderate exercise, as well as using bright and warm colors in daily life, avoiding dim lighting during the day, and using the skill of detachment and switching in dealing with people.
"Find activities that improve your condition, any activity can be a source of inspiration and energy. For some it may be cleaning and watering flowers, for some it may be reading or even writing poetry, creating paintings. Someone likes to solve crossword puzzles or communicate in correspondence with friends. Some may be energized by swimming, others by running. Find your activity and devote enough time to it to recharge," the psychotherapist added.
At the end of October, Daria Yausheva, a clinical psychologist at SberZdorovye medical company, told Izvestia about the impact of lighting on health and mood. If it is too bright, a person can get a headache, eye strain and, as a result, anxiety and stress. If the lighting, on the contrary, is weak, a person may feel drowsy, apathetic, may have difficulty concentrating, worsen the emotional background, she said.
