The court arrested a resident of Samara, who is suspected of illegal registration of more than 1.6 thousand foreign citizens in his housing. This was reported in the press service of the regional prosecutor's office on November 18.

According to the agency, the resident of Samara organized fictitious registration of foreigners in two of his own dwellings in order to earn money.

On this fact a criminal case was initiated under Art. 322.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fictitious registration of a foreign citizen or stateless person at the place of stay in the Russian Federation"), and due to the fact that the registration was conducted in two different premises, the second case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of illegal migration"). For the time being, both cases have been merged into one proceeding.

"The court on November 15, 2024 satisfied the motion of the investigator supported by the prosecutor's office to elect a measure of restraint in the form of detention for a period of two months to the 54-year-old suspect," - stated in the message of the department in Telegram-channel.

It is specified that the investigation continues under the control of the prosecutor's office.

Earlier, on October 17, police officers who organized illegal migration were detained in Tula. It is established that the detainees took positive decisions on the issuance of quotas for temporary residence permits to foreigners in the period from 2020 to 2024. It is specified that the officers knew in advance about the unreliability of data on places of work and residence of foreign citizens.
