The German government ruled out changing the decision on Taurus deliveries

Germany will not change its decision to supply long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine after the USA approved strikes deep inside Russia. This was stated by deputy government spokesman Wolfgang Büchner on November 18.
"There will be no Taurus deliveries! The Chancellor's position remains unchanged," the Bild publication quotes him as saying.
He added that Scholz has made his final decision on the issue and will not change his position again.
In addition, the chancellor himself called for a peace conference with the participation of Russia. According to him, the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is possible only on the basis of international law, specified the edition.
Earlier, on October 25, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz indicated that he was against the transfer of long-range Taurus missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) because of the risk of escalation. He noted that he was skeptical about discussions about the AFU attacking facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation with American or European weapons.
At the same time, on November 12, Friedrich Merz, a candidate for the post of German leader from the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU), said that if elected, he could issue an ultimatum to Russia and lift restrictions on the use of cruise missiles transferred to the AFU.
The next day, Bundestag deputy Sarah Wagenknecht criticized Merz's words and called them dangerous. According to her, such political views create a deep economic crisis and instability in the country.
On September 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a possible agreement between the United States and the European Union on Western weapons strikes on Russian territory would speak of their direct involvement in the Ukrainian conflict and would fundamentally change its essence.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
