Meshchansky court of Moscow has extended for six months the arrest of the defendants in the case of eight people killed in a Moscow collector during an excursion. This was reported by Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom on November 18.

A citizen of Kazakhstan, head of the IT-company "Sputnik" Alexander Kim and head of the tour company Nikita Dubas will be in custody until May 6, 2025.

The defense insisted on house arrest. The counselor of the Kazakh ambassador, who vouched for Kim, was present at the hearing. Also the defense of the latter told the court that the accused reconciled with some victims.

The side of the victims, in turn, was against house arrest, asking the court to extend the defendants' detention.

According to Kim's lawyer, his client reconciled with some of the victims in the case, namely Logashin, Ageeva, Makushkin and Fadeev. It is noted that the defendant compensated for moral and material damage. However, the amount of money paid by the defense counsel did not specify.

The incident occurred on August 20, 2023, when the guide led a group of seven people through the underground collector of the river Neglinka in Moscow. At that moment, a heavy downpour began, as a result of which the collector flooded. All eight participants of the excursion, including the guide himself, Konstantin Filippov, tragically died. The bodies of all those who went down into the collector, including two teenagers, were found in the Moskva River.

On August 23, Nikita Dubas, the organizer of underground excursions on collectors, was arrested in the case of death of people in the capital's underground communications. In the same year Basmanny court arrested in absentia the general director of the excursion bureau "Avangard" Alexander Lazovsky, who is also a defendant in the case of the death of people in the underground pipes of the Neglinka. On August 21, 2023, the man left for the United Arab Emirates and was declared wanted. In September this year it became known that Kim and Dubas tried to hide traces of the crime in the case of the death of the participants of the excursion.

Investigators conducted searches in the offices of companies that organized such descents underground. Then it turned out that the travel agency Sputnik LLC, which organized the excursion, was not officially registered. On October 18, it became known that the investigation into the case was completed.
